The Pleasure Principle is the 1979 debut solo album by English musician Gary Numan, a landmark work of synth-pop and new wave that abandoned guitars entirely in favor of synthesizers to create a distinctive, futuristic sound. It topped the UK Albums Chart and featured the international hit single "Cars".
