Idles' 2020 album Ultra Mono is a visceral, high-energy post-punk record that serves as a call to action and a statement of self-acceptance, further exploring sociopolitical themes from the band's previous work with a blunt, "sloganeering" lyrical style. The album's sound was intentionally constructed to capture the feeling of a hip-hop record, with programming assistance from Kenny Beats.
